1.The relations between the site location and periphery environment
This project is located at the southwest of Xiasha Village, north to the Furong Road, southwest to Futian Hongshulin Avifauna Natural Protection Area and Shenzhen Bay, and north to Xiasha. The site level is 1.5 meter lower than Furong Road.
2.The analysis of the site characteristics
The site is a narrow plot of 480m long and 80m wide, which is close to the Guang-Shen Express Way and Shenzhen Bay. There are excellent environment and convenient traffic system in the south. There are some cultural and community differences between the social middle class living in Xiasha Village and the habitants living here in the north. The Golden Bay Garden is 300 meters southeast to this plot and it is very close to the anchor point of this project.
3. Urban planning ideas
The seashore-house characteristics and the full use of the natural resources of Shenzhen Bay and Mangrove are stressed in the overall design ideas. The outline of the residences is required to stand out the complete image and to be different from the Golden Bay Garden nearby. The interior environment is required to emphasize the sense of going home and concern about the people’s feeling. The residences’ design is based on the market effect and some factors such as comfort, rationality, good views and orientation should be considered in the design of dwelling style.
Planning and design
1. The disposal of Buildings that face Shenzhen bay
The use of landscape orientation
The plot presents a northwest-to-southeast trend and if we arrange the residences along the plot trend, most of the main rooms will have to face southwest. Our scheme will turn the high-rises to the south and make them have good sunshine and ventilation. At the same time, make full use of the natural views of mangrove and the habitants can enjoy not only the capacious seascape but also the grace scene of country-level natural protection area.
Spatial division of the Courtyard
The buildings are not arranged into a row in the plot of about 500 meters long, but divided into three building groups, and each group has a half-open virescence courtyard, which is enclosed by one high-rise and one multi-storey residence. Habitants on the top floors can look as far as one can seascape, and habitants on the lower floors can enjoy the garden, which contains a virescence platform and footbridge and creates a comfortable sense of going home.
The formation of the dynamic space
The plot is divided into three zones by the arc-shape high-rise residences, and a convergent-divergent space is formed by the organic combination among the three zones. Apart from the dull regular images of general habitation area, it can provide the habitants who have lived in cities for a long time with an unique feeling.
The people on the platform can go across from one building group to another, just like from one island to another.
Island Concept
Three building groups not only provide their own habitants with courtyard space, but also connect to each other by the footbridge. The people on the platform can go across from one building group to another, just like from one island to another.
Seashore-house characteristics
The whole building group is designed as the image of sailing hull which melts with the beachscape perfectly.
2. The disposal of Buildings that face Xiasha Village
The use of Topography
There is a 1.5-meter difference of elevation between the site and Furong Road. After considering the large amount of land excavation for underground garage, we decide the construction relative level as the same as Furong Road. In this way, we make the habitation area 1.5 meter lower than Xiasha Village , which blocks some disadvantaged disturbances and benefits the habitants there.
The disposal of the rock-bottom parts
The commercial parts and parking area are arranged on the ground floor. An overhead platform is designed on the second floor of the high-rise residences facing Xiasha Village, and lengthens the space between habitants and Xiasha Village.
The subsection disposal for the high-rises
The residences are divided into three building groups and each group faces Shenzhen Bay with the arc style, which leaves appropriate seascape space for the inhabitants of Xiasha Village.
The technique of the building elevation
The elevations facing to Shenzhen Bay look open and ventilating with both windows and balconies. On the contrary, the elevations facing Xiasha Village is a little bit close for the lower part and open for the higher part.
Environment & Landscape Design
For the purpose of following the idea of the dynamic space and islands, the virescence landscape on the ground is designed as arc style and the landscape between courtyards and islands is emphasized. With the seashore theme, the ground pavement makes the three building groups become three islands between the blue backgrounds and the virescence. At the same time, the fountains planted at the entrance of main hall and islands bring the sound of water running to the habitation area.
Individual buildings’ design
1. Housing Design
The residences are divided on the vertical direction according to the different dwelling style. The bottom of the high- rise is near to Xiasha village and we arrange small dwelling size. In the middle of the high-rise, we arrange main dwelling style of three-room plus two- hall. And on the top floors, for the purpose of raising habitation environment, we arrange four-room or five- room large style and one lift for two doors because of superior views. We arrange the large dwelling styles facing south in the plans, as well as the living rooms and the master rooms of each door.
2.Public buildings’ design
The chamber is divided into two parts, which meets the needs of stage development as well as conforms to the characteristic of narrow plot and reduces the radius of services. There are commodious activity platforms on each floor for the kindergarten. The treatment of the elevations emphasizes the complete image, and makes full use of the aesthetic feeling that comes from materials’ texture effect.
